Boxlike, plexiglas objects – it becomes obvious that first of all these create a subtle colour saturation using monochrome material. The reflections on the picture surface stand in a subtly created opposition to the translucent, non-reflecting shadows which are cast. Due to the way light is reflected along the edges, a fine net of lines is formed framing the body. It separates the reflections on the surface, giving them their proportions.
In the daily flood of images, the non-representational picture is more attractive and more memorable. The search for a picture liberated from narrative, liberated from programme and meaning, has something refreshing because it creates a focal point directly, without mediation. The pictures are intentionally provocative in their modesty. They insist that viewers perceive them as a whole. In this way they achieve something indescribable, something which can only come into being through materialisation: the pure effect of beauty.
