Attila Csörgő operates at the intersection of science and art, with his works resembling experimental studies. These pieces are not merely illustrations of complex intellectual processes; they also reveal a playful and humorous side. The work in the evn collection is an outstanding example of this approach. It is a kinetic sculpture realized as a model construction and, at the same time, an astonishing geometric demonstration.
The sculpture consists of a two-part frame in which a network of threads is connected to thin wooden rods. On the central table surface are three of the five Platonic solids: a cube, a tetrahedron, and an octahedron. Csörgő’s ingenious arrangement allows the edges and vertices of these forms to be set in motion, eventually transforming into an icosahedron—a twenty-sided figure—before returning to their original shapes.
This work impressively demonstrates how Csörgő brings the laws of geometry to life through art. At the same time, it evokes a sense of wonder and curiosity by making the complex beauty of mathematics and the physical world accessible in a humorous and engaging way.
