The subject of this artistic work of Constanze Ruhm is locating and determining perception in different media. Starting with a subject taken from a film sequence, the attempt is made – as in Kiss – to develop a static, compressed composition as befits the wall-supported, pictorial medium. She uses various approaches so as to produce a strongly suggestive effect both as a reproduction and as independent pictorial content detached from its original context.
The tools used to create these pictures are the computer and visualisation programmes that are, however, used in such a way that the primary goal is to achieve the basic atmosphere capable of transporting the intention of the picture. At the same time, the required distancing – appropriate to the depictive medium – of virtual reality from the exposed medium (film) is obtained. It never allows the visitor to be certain which technical origins give rise to what is being seen.
It helps to focus the viewer in locating and determining their personal perception of multifarious virtual and media products, and to discover it as an object of contemplation.
