The series of small-format drawings which have the title Short Drawn Retrospective, remind one of the various venues of Ondák’s exhibition activity. Thus, they are a kind of autobiography – places, rooms, situations, all meticulously reconstructed using traditional drawing techniques. Ondák touches on a special quality of installation art, the spatial experience can never be adequately captured for the future with other mediums. Ondák’s “detour” into drawing is, on one hand, a reflection of that fact, and, on the other, an offer to the imagination because the drawn rooms leave space for embellishment. Those who did not see the exhibitions leaf through a book of never-travelled landscapes.
